Golfer height (ft) Swing clearance (ft)

Swing clearance is the horizontal radius around the golfer's stance. Auto is 0.78 × height, which matches the common 14 ft both-handed width rule.

Projector

Which projectors fit this screen?

Each projector has a fixed range of lens distances for a picture of this width. For a floor unit the lens must also sit clear of the mat and the golfer. “Place it” picks the projector and puts it at the best spot.

Pick gear and the planner resizes the screen and mat, moves the projector to the right distance, and re-runs every check. See everything with prices and links on the Your build tab.

Drag the screen to move the whole sim. Drag the mat to set ball distance and offset. Drag the projector to set how far it is from the screen (that sets the throw ratio) and how far off center it sits; the checks update as you move it. Throw ratio is lens-to-screen distance divided by image width.

Ceiling finish (in)

Drywall is ½ in (0.5) or ⅝ in (0.625). Use 0 if the ceiling stays bare, or about 1.4 for drywall on furring strips.

Why this matters: a plan or builder height such as "11 ft basement" can stop at the top of the floor above. Then the joists (about 9¼ in for 2×10s, 11¼ in for 2×12s, 11⅞ to 14 in for I-joists), a ¾ in subfloor and the drywall all come off it. A tape measure to the bottom of the bare joists already skips the joists. Under a roof there are no floor joists to take off, so measure to the underside of the trusses or the drywall. Beams, ducts and soffits hang lower still: add them below as low-ceiling zones.
